ABANDONED TEXTILE FACTORY
Part of the old factory district, the old textile mill was huge back when the factories funded the town. Since its closing in the seventies, it has been frequently vandalized, and the town has not bothered to maintain it. There are questions about its structural integrity.

BLUE SWALLOW MOTEL
One of the only motels in town, Blue Swallow is the cheapest and perhaps the shadiest. The rooms are atypically large and the pool is always clean, but there is a strange atmosphere around the place. The motel is a one floor complex with twenty rooms, not including the manager's office and quarters.

MILLER'S GENERAL
Miller's has changed hands a number of times over the years, but the name has always remained. A small little grocery with a little of everything, Miller's is just off the main avenue downtown and was built into an old apartment building that still has occupants.

To the south exists Camp Rayburn, which was founded in the forties as a get-away camp. Featuring 12 moderate sized cabins, a mess hall and numerous sports fields surrounding the large lake, it continues to be used all year round. In the summer months, sleep-over camps for kids take up residence with teens from all over the state. It can be rented out in the off season by any business or individual with the funds.

ABANDONED THEME PARK
The theme park has been in a state of disrepair for years now. A recent betterment campaign was able to raise money with which to eventually refurbish the park and re-open it for business. Work on restoration has not begun and the rusted rides and rickety pavilions still stand.

FOUR ACES
An all-in-one gas, diner, and lodging spot for tourists right off of the highway. The diner is a grease trap and has been operated by the same woman for over twenty years. You won't find a better burger or shake in the whole county. The diner only seats fifteen and the lunch rush can make wait times up to two hours long.

DOWNTOWN PINEWOOD
Downtown Pinewood is surprisingly busy, featuring a number of small restaurants and shops as well as a small photography studio and the local post office. In the summer months and on weekends, the streets are usually packed. A farmers market lines the streets every Saturday from April through early October and the holiday parades cut through the downtown every year.

ELMWOOD THEATER
Despite having only three screens, Elmwood is a popular local hangout for kids and young adults. Staffed mostly by the same age group, it can be a little unkempt and some of the floors are perpetually sticky. If you're looking for the latest movie blockbuster, you'll have to wait a few months for it to reach Elmwood screens. On the plus side, you'll never pay more than $5 a ticket.

PINEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY
Located next door to The Herald, the local library has seen an uptick in circulation with a recent increase in funding that has updated the available catalog to include newer book releases. The media collection still remains small, however.

THE HERALD
Headquarters of the local paper, the squat building is located off the main avenue and is next to the town library. The old building has questionable air-conditioning and out of date computers, but combats that with hard-working reporters, writers, and editors.

OLD COAL MINE TUNNELS
Abandoned since the early eighties, the mining tunnels are, supposedly, under strict surveillance due to their instability and the danger of collapse. In reality, there is a single security guard at night who falls asleep around midnight and the gates and blockades are disturbingly easy to bypass.

THE BROKEN SPOKE
Being the only bar in town makes the Broken Spoke a popular spot with locals and tourists alike. The Spoke has a laidback atmosphere and is typically full of locals who like to take turns playing the most annoying song on the jukebox. They serve great food, but can be very inhospitable to anyone who isn't a local.

TONY'S GARAGE
Reopened a few years ago, Tony's Garage is owned and run by local resident and former cop Tony Marino. The shop employs ten people in total and focuses on repairs and restorations. For a small town shop, the workmanship is impressive and has garnered the business a lot of attention.

ST. ANNE'S CHURCH
Over two centuries old, St. Anne's Catholic Church resides nestled into the plains near west of the town. Though not the only church in town, it is by far the oldest and is attended by most of the families who have been a part of Pinewood since its inception. Despite its dated exterior, the interior is elegantly and expensively decorated.

RANGER'S BLUFF
To the east of town is Ranger's Bluff and Cedar Creek, a popular hotspot for teenagers and young adults. Unsanctioned parties have been known to crop up here during the summer months and during the college football season, though the police tend to keep a polite distance as long as the parties don't get too rowdy.
